Measurement with strain gauges is a standard measurement procedure in test engineering. Strain gauges7 determine mechanical stress and derivative quantities such as force, pressure or torque. The strain gauge is a part of many sensors and transducers. Examples include fatigue testing and service life tests of individual components such as metal plates and tubes, or safety-related components such as vehicle axes or airfoils, all the way to structure analysis of large systems like whole vehicles or buildings.
