Measurement Modules for Extreme Conditions

Decentral Measurement Modules for Rugged Conditions

CANSAS is ideal for any applications demanding decentralized setups with multiple measurements taken close to the measured processes.

The CANSAS-SL versions are especially robust. They meet MIL STD810F standards, among the most stringent for resistance to temperature, vibration, contamination and shock.

They are ideal to employ in vehicles and other machines, and anywhere that normal electronics can’t go.
The modules include high-performance, synchronizable measurement amplifiers, some modules even providing the necessary sensor supply. Integrated signal processors provide the capability for real-time computations with result data, and reduction of the bus load. The digitalized measurement signals are outputted as CAN messages in accordance with ISO 11898, or as CANopen® messages. These are universally importable by measurement devices having a CAN-interface or also by automation systems, machine control units, etc.

Application areas
CANSAS is ideal for any applications demanding decentralized setups with multiple measurements taken close to the measured processes. Additionally, it can operate in rugged conditions, enduring temperature fluctuations ranging from -20° C to +85° C, or strong agitation and shock, and in anything from high humidity to splashed water.
Noise-free transmission of measured data
Networking by means of the CAN-Bus eliminates the need for long measurement lines and ensures noise-free digital format data transmission.

Design reflects the function
As with the standard modules, the design reflects the function. The housing serves simultaneously as a heat sink and as a mounting fixture. Multiple CANSAS modules can be attached together without the need for tools, by means of the tongue and groove principle, or inserted into a module rack. The modules can be assembled on mounting platforms for assembly on top-hat rails. The smooth surface makes it easy to clean following exposure to pollutants.
