CANSAS

Intelligent, CAN-Bus network capable measurement and stimulation modules

Decentralized, CAN-Bus networkable,
measurement modules for physical measurement quantities.

The CANSAS family of modules are compact, rugged and CAN-Bus network capable.
Any signal sources or sensors, such as signals of voltage, current, temperature, strain gauges, ICP, RPMs, displacement etc. Can be connected directly and transmitted over far distances without distortion. Wiring of complicated measurement lines is thus totally obsolete.

Within the measurement module, the analog signals are processed and transformed to a CAN-message. A digital signal processor allows computation of the signals in real time, which provides for smart measurement – significant data reduction. A wide variety of functions such as filtering, averaging, min./max., resampling and real-time data reduction, and much more, is available.

The function parameters are specified by the user by means of a software interface which features intuitive settings-dialogs. No special expertise in CAN-bus technology is required to work with the module. After a one-time parameterizing procedure, the CANSAS is simply connected to a sensor. It starts by itself and implements its settings immediately upon receiving a supply voltage. The measured data are then continuously emitted to the CAN-bus at a user-specified transfer rate.

CANSAS - Fields of application

· Road and rail vehicles, air and space travel, manufacturing and power plants, etc.
· Wherever measurement signals from scattered sites are to be transferred cheaply and noise-free to a central collector
· Implementation of analog sensors on intelligent CAN-bus sensors
· In cases requiring inexpensive, potential-isolated acquisition of many channels
· Wherever conditions in the measurement's environment require a compact, robust structure and a wide temperature range, so that conventional measurement equipment is not an option

CANSAS as a Personal Analyser

Real-time processing of measured data CANSAS is also a Personal Analyser enabling any kind of processing of measurement data in real-time. In conjunction with a high-performance digital signal processor and the parameterizing software, virtual channels can be set up. The calculation instructions are entered using simple, conventional mathematical notation. Virtual (computed) channels are treated just as any other channels. Performing additional data processing on the virtual channels is thus possible.
